Meet the Teacher!
Hello, students and parents! My name is Danna Drennon, and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year. Education is my passion, and I believe that every student has the potential to excel and achieve great things.
Educational Background:
I hold a Bachelor's degree in English from Cumberland University, where I graduated with honors. Afterward, I obtained a Master's degree in Teaching, which allowed me to deepen my knowledge and expertise in the subject matter. I am currently completing an additional Master's degree in English Literature and plan to pursue a Ph.D. in English Literature in the future.
Teaching Experience:
I have been a dedicated educator for 7 years, teaching students of various ages and backgrounds. My teaching journey began as a 10th and 12th grade English teacher in Wilson Central High School in Lebanon, Tennessee, where I discovered my love for creating engaging and inclusive learning environments. Since then, I have had the privilege of teaching at Blackman High School, where I honed my teaching methods and strategies to cater to diverse learning styles.
Teaching Philosophy:
I firmly believe that education goes beyond rote memorization and tests. My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering critical thinking, encouraging curiosity, and promoting a growth mindset. I strive to create a classroom where students feel supported and empowered to ask questions, explore ideas, and take risks in their learning journey.
Approach to Teaching:
In my classroom, I emphasize active learning and collaborative discussions. I encourage students to take an active role in their education, which includes participating in group activities, hands-on projects, and interactive learning experiences. By doing so, I aim to make the learning process enjoyable and meaningful for every student.
Personal Interests:
Outside of the classroom, I have a keen interest in reading, writing, and traveling. Additionally, I enjoy spending my free time watching movies with my family and two precious chihuahuas.
I am excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to getting to know each and every one of my students. Together, we will embark on an exciting educational journey, full of growth, discovery, and success.
