Welcome to Mr. Sutton's page!

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. This is the web page of Mr. Sutton; this year he is teaching Audio Visual (AV) Production I, II, III, and IV along with a unit of College and Career Transition. In addition to teaching he is the Head Track and Field Coach along with being the faculty point/advisor coach for the cross country team.

Mr. Sutton has been at Blackman since January of 2006. In that time he has worked with the Special Ed Department, taught English III and ACT Prep, served as a cross country coach for thirteen years (eight as head coach), and is in his twelfth year coaching track - sixth as head coach.

Mr. Sutton earned his undergrad degree from Malone University in Canton, Ohio. He also possesses masters degrees from Regent University in Virginia Beach, and Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Mr Sutton uses Schoology so please check there for projects, assignments, and power points. Use Clever to access Schoology. If this is your first time accessing Clever from home, you will need to put your entire email address in [email protected] and your password that you use to log into a computer at school.

Mr. Sutton uses Skyward for grades using your assigned username and password. Grades are updated weekly.

Mr. Sutton's Grading Procedures are as follows:
- Each class will earn two grades per week.
- Grades are either formative (fifty percent) or summative (fifty percent).
- This class is project driven. Students working on assigned projects will pass their class.
- This class is designed that students who want to earn an A or high B will need to complete paperwork (normally information dealing with pre production and post production).
- Students will be given the chance to work on assignments outside of class. This will help enhance a class; however, students who are not able will not be penalized for not working on projects outside of class.
- Students will take a midterm and final on paper. These assessments are reflective in nature.
- Additional procedures may be found in each class syllabus.

AV Production is hands on and project driven; do not worry about making up missing work while absent. In class the absences can be made up through projects when the student returns.

Please see below for Blackman High School grading procedures, Mr. Sutton's class syllabi, and course standards.
