Class Information

Be seated and ready to begin when the bell rings.
Cell phones and other electronic devices should be put away and out of sight, unless otherwise directed. - Social Media will not be used in my classroom.
Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
Be respectful (this includes body language, words, and tone of voice).
Please, no side conversations or other distracting behaviors.
All students are expected to complete their own work (unless instructed to collaborate). Do not copy.
Do not plagiarize.
 
United States History and Geography is a yearlong survey course designed for the accelerated student that is comprised of the study of American history, beginning with Reconstruction and ending with the Present day. U.S. History and Geography is designed to inform students about who they are as American citizens and how historical events have shaped the current world in which we live. The course will focus on the following topics: Reconstruction, Industrialization, Gilded Age Politics, Progressive Era, Imperialism, WWI, Roaring Twenties, Great Depression, New Deal, WWII, Cold War, A Nation in Transition, Civil Rights Movement, and The Modern United States (1960s-present).
Students are expected to complete all homework assignments.
 
Late work will be accepted for most assignments. Those assignments where late work will not be accepted will be discussed when the assignment is assigned.
 
10% of the total grade will be deducted from the assignment per school day until day 5.
                            Example - Late 1 day - maximum grade available = 90%; 2 days - maximum grade available = 80%. This will continue until day 5.
Late Work will not be accepted after the 5th school day of it being late.
 
Absent - If you are absent, you need to check Schoology! Daily! 
               You will have 5 school days to complete all assignments that were assigned while absent. After the 5 school days, late points will be deducted as per the late                        policy above.
 
 
The textbook that we will be using in Advance Placement U.S. History is the AMSCO Advanced Placement 4th Edition United States History by John J. Newman & John M. Schmalbach. The ISBN# is 978-1-6903-0550-7. We will be utilizing a free PDF version that is linked in my Schoology courses.
