Welcome to Health Science

I am excited to welcome your student to our Health Science class this year! My name is Leona Mathisen and I have been a registered nurse since 2013. With over a decade of experience in healthcare, I am passionate about sharing the knowledge and skills that prepare students for the future of healthcare industries.

In this class, I expect students to be engaged, curious, and open to learning about the many opportunities and challenges within healthcare. Whether your student plans to pursue a career in healthcare or not, it is important for everyone to understand the complexities and realities of this vital field. Gaining a foundation in health science equips students with essential knowledge to manage basic healthcare needs and navigate the healthcare system confidently.

Most assignments will be in Schoology unless we do a hands-on task in class or have a worksheet. I do provide fill-in notes for most of my lectures. Bell work should be made up if missed and all assignments will have 7 days to complete from the first day back to class.
