Bio:
Mrs. Parris has obtained a Bachelor's in English Writing with a Spanish minor, a Master's in Education, Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL emphasis. She is a PhD candidate in Literacy Studies and is currently working on her dissertation. She has been teaching for 10 years; 3 of them were in elementary, and the last 7 have been at Blackman High School.

My availability is Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM  - 3:45 PM.  Any email sent after 3:45 will be responded to the following day.  Emails received on weekends will be responded to on Monday.
 
I will send out emails to parents periodically to update families on activities at the school, in the district, and in the community. I will also email parents regarding students' performance in class. Parents - please ensure your email is listed correctly in Skyward.

All class resources will be posted on Schoology every week for every lesson.
 
Algebra 1 (Spring 2026)- We will use the enVision text in class, and it is accessible through Clever (Savvas Easybridge). Students are provided a workbook for homework. Homework will also be assigned through the online textbook accessible through Clever (Savvas Easybridge). 
 
English 2 (Fall 2025, Spring 2026)- We will use the myPerspectives text in class, and it is accessible through Clever (Savvas Easybridge). Students are provided a workbook for homework, but it is also available in Clever (Savvas Easybridge).
 
Computer Science (Fall 2025)- We will use the text Everything You Need to Ace Computer Science and Coding in One Big Fat Notebook. We will also utilize multiple websites: code.org and codeHS (accessible throug Clever.com), as well as scratch.mit.edu .
 
 
Grading Policy:  
In class work -- Needs to be turned in at the end of class. If it is turned in later in the day or the next day, it is 10 points off. Each consecutive day is an additional 10 points.
 
Missing work -- Loses 10 points each day.
 
Work when absent -- You have 5 days from the day you return to turn your work in for full credit. Please take advantage of IMPACT in order to get help and get caught up.
