Trigonometry is, at its simplest, a set of fractions based on three values: x, y, and r. 

  • x and y are the coordinates of a point. 
  • r is the distance the point is from the origin
These numbers are related by the equation x^2 + y^2 = r^2
(That's x squared plus y squared equals r squared.)
