We will hold our annual Family Picnic on the front lawn at BHS on Thursday, 24 August starting at 6pm. We all look forward to meeting the parents of our new cadets and connecting again with the parents of our returning cadets. Tickets are $5/person. We will have games for young kids, cadets, and parents, so come ready to have a great time. Bring your own chairs!
Booster Club Meeting
Parents, we will be holding our first booster club meeting of the new school year on Thursday night, 17 August, at 6:30pm in the JROTC classroom. I hope to see many of you there. We have a lot to discuss regarding our multi-purpose building and our fund-raising efforts.
Annual JROTC Awards Ceremony
We will be holding our annual JROTC Awards Ceremony in the BHS Auditorium on Thursday, April 20th, beginning at 1pm. All cadets must be in uniform for the ceremony. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend! At the conclusion of this ceremony we will be announcing our key cadet leadership for School Year 2017-18.
Our annual inspection is scheduled for Thursday, March 23rd, at 8am. We will be attempting to achieve our 17th consecutive rating of Honor Unit with Distinction at this inspection.
We will be selling chicken wings, soda, water, and chips during lunch at the Blaze Bonanza on Friday, 20 January. Cadets, please bring in your donations of soda, water, and single-serve chips to the JROTC classroom!
Blaze Rifle Team
The Blaze Rifle team competed in the National JROTC Rifle Match and unfortunately came up just short of being selected to attend the shoulder-to-shoulder competition in Anniston, AL by one place. If a team happens to drop out of the competition then we could get the invitation to compete, but for now we are out of the running.
The Blaze Rifle Team squared off against the Montgomery Bell Academy Rifle Team on Dec 5th at Montgomery Bell Academy in a friendly head-to-head rifle match. MBA are gracious hosts and we appreciate the opportunity to compete against such high quality competition.
The Blaze Rifle Team has currently placed 1st in the 7th Brigade and 20th in the nation in the Army JROTC National Rifle Match. As additional teams are scored this could change, but for now we qualify to attend the National Match in Annistion, AL in February.
The Blackman JROTC Cadets raised over $900 to purchase Thanksgiving dinners for 10 families from Blackman High School. The Cadets delivered the precooked meals to their homes on Tuesday, 22 November 2016 after school.
