Great news! The stuff we're doing today isn't really new. We're going rehash a lot of our old properties (y-intercepts, x-intercepts, maxima and minima, and intervals of increase and decrease, as well as domain and range. The only thing that's different about this lesson is that we'll focus on the graphs of parabolas rather than just any old graphs.

Our lecture discussion does touch on the differences between "mathematical domain and range" vs. "contextual domain and range". In other words, the domain of a graph may include all real numbers, but the part of the graph that models a real world situation (our example was a rocket's flight) will likely be a lot smaller, typically from time 0 (the moment of launch) to the moment it hits the ground. If you missed that lecture, the second video below may help.

Assignment: We pulled lesson 12-3 out of our textbooks. While we worked several parts in class, the graded assignment is limited to the problems on pages 882 & 883.
