IM2 - 1st & 2nd Differences

What
IM2 - 1st & 2nd Differences
When
8/28/2017

We start our new chapter by discussing the relationship between equations, graphs, and the x-y pairs that relate to them, focusing primarily on degree. Most of the graphs we'll be dealing with for a while will be 2nd degree equations. The first and second differences (and others beyond) are one way to look at the x-y pairs and detect the degree of their related equation.

Equations for data with all their first differences the same are of degree 1 and are called linear functions.

Equations with all their second differences the same are of degree 2 and are called quadratic functions.
