We did something different today. We started class with a couple questions to see how well everyone was handling the main ideas of Vertex and Factored forms of a parabola. 


If you got them both right, your assignment was the Standard Form worksheet, which introduced standard form and had you used graphs on the calculator to write equations in vertex form and factored form. 

If you didn't get both problems right, your assignment was the Vertex and Factored Form Review worksheet, which had you deciding which form the quadratic equation was in, harvesting the key information from that form (the vertex for vertex form, the x-intercepts for factored form), and determine the direction of the graph's opening. 

Whichever worksheet you were assigned, you only had to do that one, not both. If you were absent, you should do the Vertex and Factored Form Review worksheet. 
  • Help! Check the days these topics were introduced to find links to videos. (Standard form was barely touched on in discussion so doesn't warrant its own video, but the Calculator Graphing Intro day might prove helpful if you're stuck.)
But I don't have a graphing calculator! How can I do this (Standard Form worksheet) for homework?

    • The Wabbit app for Android can emulate the TI-84 calculators we use in class. (Full disclosure: I was unsuccessful when I tried to use this one, but some people swear by it.)
